Aquamid is a non re-absorbable, long-lasting product for facial correction. It does not become hard once injected and does not migrate from the point of injection. Scientific research has shown that the gel will stay in its place unchanged for at least 10 years and there is no reason to expect any changes after this period. The cosmetic result is satisfying for both you and the doctor and procedure does not have to be repeated once the desired result is achieved in 80% of cases this is after one or two procedures. Progressive ageing of the skin does continue and if required, extra Aquamid can be injected as necessary.

Immediate Results

Aquamid is a transparent, injectable implant containing 97.5% water bound to 2.5% cross-linked polymer. Aquamid has been especially designed and formulated for facial soft tissue correction (deep folds, wrinkles, lip augmentation, lipodystrophia and shaping of facial contours) as well as minor body contour corrections ( atrophic scars, post-liposuction, etc.). As your skin matures, the quantity of water gradually diminishes, resulting in the formation of wrinkles and folds. Aquamid is therefore a natural solution for aesthetic corrections by adding water to the tissue. Aqumaid adds volume to the subcutaneous tissue, thereby restoring or augmenting facial and body contours.

With Aqumaid the obtained results are immediate and there is no secondary filling effect. Aquamid is a homogeneous hydrogel without microparticles and becomes a soft and stable part of the subcutaneous tissue. Aquamid is non-toxic, non-allergenic, migration resistant and does not degrade over time.

Aquamid has to be injected subcutaneously in order to give volume to the soft tissue, when used for correction of defects due to ageing, trauma or congenital reasons.

The results obtained with Aqumaid are very natural and soft and give a high degree of aesthetic patient satisfaction.

Long – Term Aesthetic Satisfaction

Not only are the results with Aquamic immediate, they are also safe and long-lasting. These results are obtained due to the balanced composition and unique tissue compliance of Aquamid.

Aquamid keeps its position at the site of injection and is physically and chemically stable. After the injection of Aquamid, a thin layer of connective tissue, a pseudoepithelial layer, surrounds the gel enabling Aquamid to become a soft, stable part in the connective tissue. Aquamid moves in a way that mimics natural facial movements.

The unique chemistry of Aquamid ensures the high water content and thus the long-term satisfactory results. Along with the ageing process, follow-up injections of Aquamid can maintain the desired effect.

Due to the cross-linking of the molecule no reabsorption is reported. There is no biodegradation process reported in pre-clinical studies. Furthermore no allergenic reactions have been reported in connection with Aquamid application. Aquamid allows free passage of oxygen, hormones and nutrients thus improving the biocompatibility.

Extremely High Water Content

The main ingredient of Aquamid is sterile, apyrogenic water. Aquamid contains the highest amount of water, 97.5%, of all the long-lasting injectable implants on the market.

The manufacturing of Aquamid is based on the patented “ in-Line Cross-Linking Technology” (ILX Technology), which provides a unique combination of elasticity and viscosity with a very high content of water.

This flexible chemistry offers a natural, soft elasticity and tissue-like behaviour of Aquamid together with a high biocompatibility and safety.

Each batch is routinely tested for residual amounts of monomers and is in compliance with the limits issued by the Health Authorities.

Aquamid has obtained an EC-certificate and is manufactured according to Good Manufacturing Practice and strict EU regulation by Ferrosan A/S, a Danish  healthcare and medical devices company founded in 1920.
